iPad 2 Running iOS 5 successfully now its jailbroken

Really cool news for all iPad2 users around the world iOS 5 now will be available on iPad 2 as when iOS 5 released there were no ability to jailbreak iOS 5 on iPad 2 and we expected to wait till iOS 5 Tethered Jailbreak release to get iPad 2 jailbroken but this happened faster than we think, iPhone Dev-Team showed a video to jailbroken iPad 2 running iOS 5 after the break.

Everything is good but MuscleNerd, again, says that there are lots of work to be done.

Lots of hurdles left, no ETAs.

As we mention before MuscleNerd said that as iPad 2 and iPhone 4S has the same A5 processor chip so they will get the same Jailbreak in the same time.

Untethered Jailbreak iPhone 4/4S and iPad 2 iOS 5 Status

Recently GreenPois0n tweeted that untethered jailbreak iOS 5 on iPad 2 and iPhone 4/4S is in progress and he has got enough donations to make the Jailbreak work.  Now you can use the SemiTether to Semitethered Jailbreak iOS 5 on your iPhone 4 or iPad 2 .

The untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 will be released in November, develpoers are working hard to find some hardware exploits in the new A5 chips, but no success, therefore so far work on software exploits is in progress, to find some breakthrough.

A bootrom exploit has not been found for either of iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (both have the same bootrom iBoot-838.3), that meaning it cannot even be tethered Jailbroken. As long as there is one device can be untethered, both two devices all can be untethered jailbreak with same bootrom exploit.

Not too surprising, but can now confirm that the iPad2 and iPhone4S bootrom are the same version iBoot-838.3

However, any hacker will not set a  time-frame  on iPhone 4S/iPad 2 untethered Jailbreak, until they developed a full untethered jailbreak tool. The Chronic Dev-Team announced that they have 5 userland exploits can be used to untethered Jailbreak the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Therefore, they are most likely working on it, and the tool will be released in the coming weeks. We can also put hopes on the new JailbreakMe 4.0

How To : Enable Multitasking Gesture On IOS 5 For IPad 1 [No Jailbreak Required]

Apple has added multitasking gestures and AirPlay mirroring feature in the 2nd generation iPad. 1st generation iPad users can enable multitasking gestures and video mirroring on their jailbroken iPad 1 by editing “K48AP.plist”,  learn more in this procedure in this “thread in our forums, Now you can also have Multitasking Gesture on your iPad running iOS 5 even without Jail-breaking by using a modified version of Redsn0w thanks to “d.B.” from modmyi forums. with this methode you can now enable multitasking gestures and video mirroring on your iPad 1 running iOS 5. iPad users can use gestures to bring up the homescreen, multitasking bar and jump between open apps.

As well as the new gestures, Apple also added AirPlay Mirroring in iOS 5, allowing users to view their iPad 2′s screen wirelessly on an Apple TV. Once again, the first-gen iPad was given the cold shoulder, leaving those stuck with it bereft of some very useful and productive new features. While the AirPlay Mirroring feature isn’t ported over to first-gen iPad yet, another similar feature called Video Mirroring (introduced in iOS 4.3.x), which is also available for iPad 2 users only, and does the same thing as AirPlay Mirroring, but using an HDMI cable.

Here is a step by step guide in order to enable Multitasking Gestures and Video Mirroring features on iPad 1.

Download the modified version of redsn0w, Mac Windows
Connect your iPad if it isn’t already and turn it Off.
Unzip and start redsn0w, click on “jailbreak”.
Put your iPad in DFU mode :
Press and Hold the Power Button for 2 seconds
Without releasing the Power Button press and Hold the Home Button for another 10 seconds
Now release the Power Button while still pressing the Home Button for another 15 soconds
Make sure you uncheck “Install Cydia” and checked “Enable multitask gestures”.
Process will take few minutes and restarts to implement the hack. Once it’s done, go to Settings > General, and you wil be able to see the multitasking option.

SoundID Introduces SIX Bluetooth Headset With Built In Siri Access

Carbon weave has got to be the Miracle Whip of gadgets — it makes anything taste better. We reviewed Sound ID’s 510 Bluetooth headset in a BT headset head-to-head a few months back; and while it sounded great and was pretty much our pick of the week, it wasn’t the coolest looking kid on the block — and you couldn’t order it to do stuff, like you could some other headsets. Sound ID’s new Six fixes all that, and adds a trick for Siri too.

Let’s discuss Siri first, Siri is a sophisticated artificial intelligent voice recognition system which was introduced as major feature in Apple iPhone 4S. It’s a pretty useful personal voice assistant which allows you to accomplish daily tasks conveniently. You can just tell Siri what do you what and that’s it, Siri will look it out for you. You can arrange your meeting reorganize your calender put reminders, call people, and a lot of other cool stuff.

The new VoiceMenu function allows access to voicemail, BING 411 for updates on news and weather, and the VoicedDial feature, which can also be used to activate Siri.

Of program, all the characteristics from the 510 are there way too, like the cool EarPrint app (which is now a Binary App for the iPad as well) for customizing the headset’s sound and checking the battery amount, A2DP and the contact controls — the latter hopefully enhanced. The 6 is $ 130 and available now.

Excerpts From Steve Jobs’ Biography: “Let’s Show Him What A Tablet Can Really Be”

If you love your iPad then in addition to Steve Jobs and Apple, we also have to thank one loud mouthed Microsoft employee who bugged Steve Jobs so much "about how Microsoft was going to completely change the world with this tablet PC software and eliminate all notebook computers" that he decided that Apple should create a device to show them what a tablet really can be and rest of it as we know is history.

This was revealed in an excerpt from Steve Jobs biography posted by The Daily Mail.

[Bill] Gates was annoyed that the guy kept revealing information about the tablet PC he had developed for Microsoft. “He’s our employee and he’s revealing out intellectual property,” Gates recounted. Jobs was also annoyed, and it had the consequence that Gates feared. As Jobs recalled:

This guy badgered me about how Microsoft was going to completely change the world with this tablet PC software and eliminate all notebook computers, and Apple ought to license his Microsoft software. But he was doing the device all wrong. It had a stylus. As soon as your have a stylus, you’re dead. This dinner was like the tenth time he talked to me about it, and I was so sick of it that I came home and said, “Fuck it, let’s show him what a tablet can really be.”

Jobs went into the office the next day, gathered his team, and said, “I want to make a tablet, and it can’t have a keyboard or a stylus.”

Interestingly, we are still to see the tablet PC software that the Microsoft employee was raving about, while Apple has already sold around 40 million iPads since it was launched last year and made it to Time's elite best 50 inventions of 2010 list. The look on his face when Steve Jobs unveiled the iPad would have been priceless.

Nokia Unveils Lumia 800 And 710; First Two Smartphones Based On Windows Phone 7.5

Nokia today announced the first two smartphones based on Windows Phone 7.5 - Lumia 800 and Lumia 710.

The new smartphones are the result of the strategic partnership that Nokia and Microsoft had announced back in February 2011, where Nokia decided to ditch its Symbian platform and instead adopt Windows Phone as its “primary smartphone strategy”.

According to Nokia, Lumia 800 features:

head-turning design, vivid colors (cyan, magenta and black) and the best social and Internet performance, with one-touch social network access, easy grouping of contacts, integrated communication threads and Internet Explorer 9.

The estimated retail price for the Nokia Lumia 800 will be approximately 420 EUR (approximately $580) and 270 EUR (approximately $375).

Availability:

The new Nokia Lumia 800 is now available in select countries for pre-order on www.nokia.com and is scheduled to roll-out across France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK in November, with 31 leading operators and retailers. It is scheduled to be available in Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan before the end of the year, and in further markets in early 2012.

Siri on iPad 1st gen

As of now we know that a Siri port for devices other than the iPhone 4S is a long way from release. However developers are hard at work trying to come up with a solution to bring Siri to other iOS devices. Another developer has been able to get Siri working on iPad 1.

The problems developers are facing right now is making Siri contact Apple's servers. It may take a while before developers are able to make any device other than iPhone 4S contact Siri's servers at Apple and enable full functionality for it.

Developer @Jackophone who ported Siri to iPad 1 has been working hard on this project. However it remains to be seen whether the hardware on devices other than iPhone 4S can provide the necessary power required for flawless working of Siri.

Jailbreak iPhone 5 iPad 2 iOS 5 Untethered Became Easy

Yes your read it right. Today we have great news for you. Few minutes ago the well-know iPhone hacker p0sixninja of Chronic Dev-team has announced that he have five bootrom exploit on the Apple A5 chip that already exist on iPad 2 and strongly expected that it will power iPhone 5

P0sixninja has announced this very amazing news at the jailbreaking convention MyGreatFest. For who don't know, the bootrom exploit are low-level bootrom ones which means that Apple won't be able to patch them with simple iOS update. Apple should make hardware update to patch them. So that iPhone 5 will be jailbreakable for lifetime before its official release and the same situation with iPad 2 as well.

The only remained step for Chronic Dev-team is to test their five exploits on iPhone 5 itself. Once they succeeded, then we will get untethered jailbreak on iPhone 5 / iPad 2 on iOS 5 soon.
The exploits were discovered by the Chronic Dev Team. A key member of the team itself namely: P0d2g, found exploits like 24kpwn, steaks4uce and also discovered an exploit in the Apple A4 chip, used in iPhone 4, original iPad and iPod touch 4G. pod2g and p0sixninja are members of the Chronic Dev Team, who were the key developers/hackers behind the famous jailbreak tool Greenpois0n, which back then was the only method available to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 completely untethered.
Finally the awesome part, iPhone 5 / iPad 2 untethered jailbreak iOS 5 will be userland jailbreak which means that you will be able to jailbreak your iPad 2 / iPhone 5 on iOS 5 via Safari browser just like JailbreakMe 3.0. According to P0sixninja, this jailbreak will be the most amazing jailbreak yet!

Stay tuned, we will keep you updated as soon as we get more updates about the upcoming iOS 5 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 5 / iPad 2!

4G LTE iPhone Coming In 2012?

Along with widespread expectations of a redesign, industry sources speaking to DigiTimes believe that Apple would finally release a 4G capable long term evolution (LTE) iPhone next year.

The report goes onto say that the number of networks offering 4G services would rise from a mere 35 to 100 by the end of 2012, with Sprint expected to rollout LTE services in the middle of 2012.

At the Verizon iPhone launch earlier this year, Tim Cook explained why Apple is reluctant on including a 4G LTE radio on iPhones:

"The first generation of LTE chip-sets force a lot of design compromises with the handset, and some of those we are just not willing to make"

The design compromise that had to be made in 4G phones were evident in the first 4G capable phone in the U.S. - Verizon's Thunderbolt (via Forbes):

[the phone] relies on a pair of chips to work. One chip, from Samsung, communicates with Verizon’s 4G networks, allowing the handset to achieve blazing data speeds of between 5 and 20 MBPS. Another chip, from Qualcomm, lets the handset talk to Verizon’s 3G network.

Apple would most likely come out with a 4G iPhone only when unified chips supporting both 3G and 4G would be available. That and of course if the battery life doesn't take a huge hit.

The current 4G capable phone market in the U.S. is dominated by HTC, which holds a share of 60 percent while Samsung, Motorola and LG account for the remaining 40 percent.

The Sprint-Apple partnership and the rumored $20 billion deal would make a lot of sense if Sprint has Apple on board when launching its 4G LTE network.

Although AT&T claims that the theoretical 14.4 Mbps down on the iPhone 4S makes it 4G capable, Apple has refrained from making any such claim.

So when do you think would Apple take the lid off a truly 4G capable iPhone?

Five New Userland Exploits Have Been Discovered To Jailbreak iPhone 5 And iPad 2

There was a lot of great information unveiled at MyGreatFest today, probably the most noteworthy  information, however, came from the Chronic Dev-Team. Who were responsible for the first iOS 4.2.1 untethered Jailbreak in the form of the GreenPois0n Jailbreaking tool. When P0sixninja (one of the head members of the Chronic Dev-Team) took the stage, he announced to the world that the Chronic Dev-Team had in there possession 5 userland exploits which can be used to Jailbreak the iPhone and iPad 2 running the iOS 5 firmware. He noted that as these are userland exploits they can be patched by Apple in future firmware updates, but they should not be effected by the new hardware which will be present in the iPhone 5. Thus, the Chronic Dev-Team have essentially already Jailbroken the iPhone 5 untethered.
The news presented by P0sixninja today is definitely exciting for the Jailbreaking community. In fact P0sixninja said himself that it will be the most amazing jailbreak yet! What else did P0sixninja talk about? Well besides the news about 5 new exploits being discovered, P0sixninja talked about how funding is a huge problem for the Chronic Dev-Team. He noted Chronic Dev Team LLC is trying to recruit more experienced hackers, but as of right now funding is a large issue. We will keep you updated on what stems from these 5 userland exploits the Chronic Dev have in their possession. In the mean time please stay tuned…

Untethered Jailbreak For iOS 5 May Be Released Soon

If you were planning to skip jailbreaking iOS 5 because currently only a tethered jailbreak available then there is some good news for you. iPhone hacker - Stefan Esser - better known by his Twitter handle - i0n1c seems to suggest that we could soon see an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 soon. Esser is credited for developing the untethered jailbreakused in jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1 and iOS 4.3.2 and recently has published a presentation titled "iOS Kernel Exploitation" which gives a rare insight into the latest iOS jailbreak techniques. Redsn0w and Sn0wbreeze currently supports only a tethered jailbreak for most of the iOS devices mentioned above, except for iPhone 3GS with the older bootrom.  With a tethered jailbreak you need to connect your iOS device to the computer on every reboot. These tools cannot jailbreak iPad 2, so it remains to be seen if the untether jailbreak that is in the works will be able to jailbreak iPad 2 or Apple's new iPhone 4S as both are powered by Apple's A5 chip. i0n1c tweeted: As far as I know iOS 5 untether is covered by other people already. Guess who :P We're guessing that Esser is referring to the iPhone Dev team. It will be interesting to see how soon the untethered jailbreak will be released after iOS 5's launch on October 12th. For the latest status update on jailbreaking iOS 5, please checkout this post where we have also detailed the various options that you have currently.

Jailbreak iOS 5 GM with Redsn0w 0.9.9b3

Soon after the news of impending release of the much-awaited iOS 5 Gold Master (GM) by Apple, followed the much anticipated confirmation from the iPhone Dev team – as MuscleNerd tweeted that iOS 5 GM jailbreak can be done using the latest version of Redsn0w.

All you need to do to execute this tethered jailbreak is download redsn0w 0.9.9b3 (or up) for Mac or 0.9.9b3a (or up) for Windows; connect your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to your computer with a USB cable and run the jailbreaking software. Recent reports suggest that Redsn0w should work with all devices that can run iOS 5 excluding Apple’s newest tablet, the iPad 2.

Here is the Step-by-Step Guide to Jailbreak iOS 5 GM

1. Download Redsnow 0.9.9b4 (Windows / Mac)
2. Click the “extras” option and then select “IPSW” to manually point Redsnow to the iOS 5 beta 7 firmware to jailbreak iOS 5 GM.

3.    Go back and then click the option to “Jailbreak”.
4.    Select “Install Cydia” and follow the instructions to enter DFU mode.
5.    Once there Redsn0w will load the limera1n exploit to tether-jailbreak your iOS device on iOS 5 GM.

At the mean time, iOS 5 GM is only available for registered iOS developers. If you haven’t yet tried the iOS 5 GM jailbreak, I’m sure you would definitely like to try it out when Apple launches the version on October 12, 2011. That’s tomorrow!

How to Fix the Quarter Screen Issue

However, as the jailbreaking community enthusiastically awaits the arrival of the D-day, there are certain ‘whispers of impending problems’ with the iOS 5 jailbreak. A jailbreak app called “Activator” has been identified to cause applications to display in a quarter of the iOS 5 loaded iPhone’s screen. The problem aptly connoted the “1/4 Screen” problem reports that when Activator (via Cydia) is installed on a jailbroken iPhone that is running the latest iOS, the App size is found to run at a reduced size, roughly one quarter of the screen.

As of now, the “1/4 Screen” problem is said to have been temporarily fixed; i.e. every time you reboot your iOS device, a repeat of the process is inevitable. Here’s a quick-fix solution:

Open SBSettings > Tap “Power”, and select “Safe Mode” > (Once booted into Safe Mode)
Tap the status bar when it says “Safe Mode”. (This will bring up a prompt)
Tap “Restart” to restart into normal mode > Launch an offending App – the error is expected to be resolved.
Many more developments are anticipated to unfold in the coming days as more iPhone app developers (including jailbreak developers) and users alike update their apps for the upcoming software update.

Have you tried the iOS 5 jailbreak yet? We would love to hear from you.

IOS 5 release date

The much awaited Apple’s “Let’s Talk iPhone” event is over. It was expected that Apple would launch the iPhone 5 and possibly the iPhone 4S, along with plenty more at this event. However, sources revealed that the iPhone 4S had finally been launched by Apple in the event with the announcement of the launch of the iOS 5 launch on October 12th.

Tim Cook, Apple’s new CEO, took to the stage, promising innovations in both software and hardware. He said that though Apple currently had 357 stores in 11 countries, the initial focus would be on new retail stores that have opened in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

With a free update on the iOS 5 launch date which is to be October 12th, he also talked about recapping all the key features. So the new iOS 5 features would include a Newsstand – for accessing magazines and books on a monthly basis in a dedicated app – a new look Camera app with a direct shortcut and more editing features, and notifications at the top of your screen, again for faster access.

Finally Apple announced the launch of the iPhone 4S. This new iPhone 4S was said to have the same look as of the iPhone 4, though it will run with the iPad’s faster A5 chip and claimed 7x faster graphics for video. It will also come with improved battery life, improved antenna, and faster data transfer. The iPhone 4S is said to be twice as fast as the iPhone 4 with respect to downloading. What’s more – the iPhone 4S has 8MP camera, redesigned lens and a new antenna system that will choose the best of two antennas depending on where you are.
