Pod2g Gives iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak To Chronic Dev Team For Release, Focuses On iPad 2 / iPhone 4S Jailbreak

Hey, jailbreaks, look at what news we’re bringing today! The iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak is almost here and guess what? GreenPois0n jailbreak tool will be back bringing iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak for all A4 devices. Pod2g has recently updated his blog with a post informing users about the latest decision he made regarding his untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.0.1.

Pod2g says that he handed over the keys of his untethered jailbreak (which will untether iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1) to the Chronic Dev Team so that they can test it, finish it and release the jailbreak as soon as possible.

I gave all the details to the chronic dev team so that they can finish, test, integrate and release the A4 jb ASAP.

Moreover, pod2g mentioned that he’ll now focus on jailbreaking A5 devices as the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. He hopes that he find a path quickly.

I need to focus on A5 and hope I can find a path quick, and I have the feeling that chronic-dev could help me.

Well, in my opinion, I see this is good news for both iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S users since the iPhone 4 users will get the jailbreak very soon (I mean it) and iPhone 4S users will see some good progress in the next few days.

For now, you can subscribe to our newsletter to get the news once it’s here.

iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak Hole Discovered By Chronic Dev Team

We’ve seen 7 betas of iOS 5, iOS 5 GM, final release of iOS 5 and two betas of iOS 5.0.1 but we haven’t seen an iOS 5 untethered jailbreak yet. Only iOS 5 tethered jailbreak is currently available and that’s mean you’ll need to connect your iOS device every time it’s rebooted. However, iOS 5 semi untethered jailbreak was released two weeks ago closing the gap between the tethered and untethered jailbreak.

Today some news coming from pod2g about the iOS 5 untethered jailbreak. Pod2g, a member of the Chronic Dev Team, claims that he has discovered a hole that can untether iOS 5 jailbreak.

Hey jailbreaking friends, I’ve found a bug that can untether iOS 5. Don’t expect a release soon, but I’m gonna work hard in it.

We haven’t heard any news about what kind of exploits that jailbreak will be. It’s most likely going to be userland jailbreak like JailbreakMe jailbreak tool.

This bug discovered by Pod2g won’t jailbreak iPad 2 or iPhone 4S, instead, it will only convert iOS 5 tethered jailbreak into untethered one. iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak was discovered by the iPhone Dev Team few weeks ago.

The iOS 5 untethered jailbreak will not be released soon. Pod2g and other team members will be working hard to get it fully working on iOS 5. We’ll surely update you whenever something happens, I recommend you follow me on Google+ and Twitter to get the updates immediately.

Chronic Dev Team: Bug Found In iOS 5 That Could Bring Untethered Jailbreak

greenpois0n

There is finally some good news for users who want an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.

iPhone hacker pod2g of the Chronic Dev Team has just announced that he has discovered a bug in iOS 5 that could help in developing an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.

pod2g announced the discovery of the bug via the following tweet:

Hey jailbreaking friends, I've found a bug that can untether iOS 5. Don't expect a release soon, but I'm gonna work hard in it.

It is not clear whether the bug also exists in iOS 5.0.1 beta that Apple has seeded to developers of iOS developer program. pod2g also hasn't mentioned if the untethered jailbreak will work on iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

iPhone Dev team and iH8sn0w have released Redsn0w and Sn0wbreeze to jailbreak iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 betas, but they only support a tethered jailbreak. BigBoss has also developed a hack called SemiTether that allows users to reboot their tethered jailbroken iOS 5 device without the need to connect it to the computer, but it has some limitations. So many users especially iPhone users have been eagerly waiting for an untethered jailbreak.

pod2g also hasn't provided an ETA on when the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 will be released, but with Apple expected to release iOS 5.0.1 very soon, we expect the Chronic Dev team to release the untethered jailbreak only after iOS 5.0.1 is released. They will probably release a new version of greenpois0n - their popular jailbreak tool, which supports the untethered jailbreak.

As always, we'll let you know if there is any further updates, so stay tuned here at iPhone Hacks or join our Facebook Fan page or follow us on Twitter or subscribe to our RSS feed.
