New To Jailbreaking? “iAm Jailbroken” Shows You Everything About Jailbreak

In case you’re new to the jailbreaking world, you might want to know what’s the use of jailbreaking and what can you do with it. A new has been released named iAm Jailbroken shows you jailbreaking basics through some video tutorials, jailbreaking news, and visual representations of what you can do with your device and how to do it.

iAm Jailbroken contains a main page with so many links guiding you to the right way and giving you information about jailbreaking. It’s mainly developed for newbies who are new in the jailbreak community.

The app’s main page (screenshot here) starts by showing you what are the jailbreak tools currently released and which firmwares they do jailbreak. Jailbreak tweaks like Redsn0w, Limera1n, GreenPois0n, Sn0wbreeze and more are included with links and text-guides.

Also included in the main page, a full list of jailbreak terms so that you can understand everything without any problems. The pros/cons of jailbreaking sections teaches you why jailbreaking is good and why it’s bad.

The app contains a section for the must-have jailbreak tweaks for both iPad and iPhone. It also includes a section for games uploaded by developers. Another interesting thing is the themes & music section that shows all kinds of ringtones, media, and themes for your iOS device that wasn’t available to you before installing Cydia.

SSH and SBSettings section where you can learn what’s SSH and what can be done while your device in SSH. Also SBSettings tweak and how it can be used included.

That’s the main page. However, the app includes a tab for video guides for all kind of things that you can with jailbreak. You must watch some videos, really useful!

Another tab at the bottom of the apps is the Repo. This tab teaches you how to add a repo to your Cydia sources.

The developer included a tab for his own blog which covers all kind of jailbreak news and Apple news. You can keep in touch with his blog with iAm Jailbroken.

You can get iAm Jailbroken app from Cydia store. There are two versions of the app, a universal one for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch which costs $1.50. The other one is a regular version for iPhone and iPod touch only costing $1.00.

iOS 5.0.1 Jailbroken Using Redsn0w 0.9.9b8, Here’s How To Do It (How To Guide)

Apple earlier today released iOS 5.0.1 to the public for all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users. Just like previous releases – iOS 5.0.1 can be jailbroken using the latest version of the iPhone Dev Team’s tool, redsn0w.

The new software, iOS 5.0.1, can be jailbroken using redsn0w 0.9.9b8 and the SemiTether tool can be used on iOS 5.0.1 to bring semi-tethered jailbreak. For more information about the SemiTether, read my previous post here.
Supported devices for the below guide:
iPhone 4 (semi untethered)iPhone 3GS new bootrom (semi untethered)iPhone 3GS old bootrom (untethered)iPod touch 4G (semi untethered)iPod touch 3G (semi untethered)iPad 1 (semi untethered) Of course the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S jailbreaks are not yet available. If you’re looking forward to fast & future jailbreak, better not upgrade to iOS 5.0.1.
STEP 1: Download iTunes 10.5 and iOS 5.0.1 final version.
STEP 2: Backup your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and restore it using the iOS 5.0.1 IPSW file downloaded from the first step.
STEP 3: Download Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 for Windows or Mac OS X from here.
STEP 4: Open Redsn0w and select “Extras” then “Select IPSW” and browse for the iOS 5.0 IPSW file

STEP 5: Now click on “Jailbreak” then “Install Cydia”. You’ll need to follow the on-screen instructions to get your device into DFU mode.

STEP 6: Once jailbroken, your device will be rebooted.
STEP 7: Now open Redsn0w again and hit “Extras” then “Just Boot”.

STEP 8: Now head to Cydia then search for “SemiTether” and install the tool:

NOTE: The last step about SemiTether is optional for users. It will allow you to reboot your device without need to a computer to connect to. You’ll lose some functions like opening mail and almost all jailbreak tweaks. You can read more here.
Let us know if you need further help.
