How To Use Siri For Voice Dictation On Mac And PC

Majority of the public have welcomed Siri despite the mixed reviews. Many are hoping for the feature to be ported to the iPhone 4 and other non-approved devices. Even Mac OS X users are hoping to get the digital assistant.

While this might take some time to happen, this workaround might fill in the gap. The method mentioned below allows desktop users (PC or Mac) to dictate their text using Siri. It’s really easy to do and doesn’t cost anything.

TUAW has passed along the obvious tip, which indicates that iPhone 4S users dictate the text on their desktops with a remote application. Apps like Mobile Mouse can connect the iPhone 4S to a desktop client over Wi-Fi, allowing to remotely type on the computer using iPhone 4S’ Siri.

The theory has been tested on an iPhone 4S and Macbook. This involved installation of Mobile Mouse’s desktop client and that was it.After launching the app, the tester was dictating the text to the Max seconds. The process was found to be both speedy and accurate.

There are many similar dictation softwares available, but the price tag reaches above $50. You can download Mobile Mouse Lite from App Store for free. Even the pro version, which comes with more features, costs around $2.00.

Apple Fails To Silence The Voice Of Siri

It is a known fact that Apple tends to keep its technology and future developments a secret from the outside world until they decide themselves that the people should know about them. Mr. Jon Briggs reportedly got a call from Apple’s public relations representative who warned him against talking about Apple products in public, saying that Apple employees are not allowed to do so.

Mr. Jon Briggs replied that he was not under any contract with Apple and that the voice overs that he did and that are being used in Siri were done with another company by the name of Scansoft. He did the voice overs about six to five years ago.

He further said that he came to know that Apple was using his voice when he first saw a demonstration of Siri on the television. Though he was not told beforehand about his voice beings used, he is nevertheless a fan of Apple products and is happy that the work he has done can live forever.
