The latest study shows that around 40 percent of the photos posted on Twitter comes from apple devices. Instagram, Twitter for iPhone app and iOS 5's built in camera apps together contribute towards the share. The iOS 5 recently became the top 10 sharing clients of Twitter due to the integrated social network apps. Apple has left behind andriod which is only expected to have a 10% share in the overall photo tweets according to this study.
Twitter ‘s third party client’s like yFrog and Twitpic have been left behind by the partnership of Twitter with Photobucket in a combined effort to offer first party photo services. Skylines also found out specific services are preferable by different clients and mobile platforms. E.g 47% of yFrog photos came from clients on blackberry, TwitPic got it’s 39% photos from android while 42% of Twitter’s official photo service came from Apple.
Being called a ‘corporate mentor’ by Twitter’s chief executive, Apple’s iOS 5 has been a blessing in disguise for the social network which has seen the daily sign ups from iOS devices tripled after the release of iOS 5. With the growing trend to sign up to social networking sites from iOS devices, the day might be near when Apple becomes the leading provider of global active users to all the social networking sites.
